Speed Enforcment and Crash/Crime Scene Mapping
Laser Technology Inc pioneered the first commercial speed laser (LIDAR) and has continued to provide the most durable, reliable, and versatile laser on the market. In addition, LTI produces state-of-the-art crash/crime scene mapping tools.
Laser Technology’s first Laser under $2000.00 Designed for small to midsized Agencies or Large Agencies that want to expand their laser program into the Patrol Sections
This dynamic / versatile laser can be used for conventional speed detection enforcement plus measuring crash / crime scenes.
Laser Speed Enforcement - LTI Lasers - UltraLyte Series
Did you know that LTI developed the first commercial speed laser, back in 1991, and that most of the original units are still being used today? What does that mean to you? It means that LTI has the history and reputation of producing the most reliable, durable and innovative hand-held speed lasers available.
Only lasers have the ability to pinpoint a vehicle’s speed in dense, multilane traffic, yet not all lasers are the same. Only LTI lasers have a unique Accuracy Validation code that ensures the integrity of every displayed speed measurement and is why LTI has an exceptional record for winning court cases.Compact, lightweight and extremely versatile, the LTI UltraLyte series is by far the most rugged laser on the market. Every model provides precise target selectivity and instant speed readings.
How the UltraLyte Measures Up:
All UltraLyte models are constructed with a waterproof, impact-resistant aluminum casing, rendering them impervious to even the harshest field conditions.
Eliminate recharging hassles and have the convenience of purchasing replacement batteries anytime, anywhere.
Feel confident your speed measurement will ALWAYS stand up in court with the Accuracy Validation code, ensuring the reliability of every displayed speed value.
UltraLyte 100 LR The 'all-in-one' UltraLyte laser combines precise speed measurement with multi-functional capabilities and has worldwide court precedence and approvals. By far the most durable, versatile, and reliable laser on the market. UltraLyte 100 LR product spec sheet
UltraLyte 200 LR This dynamic / versatile laser can be used for conventional speed detection plus measuring crash scenes. It has the unique ability with its patented tilt sensor to measure true horizontal distance, slope distance, vertical distance, and the pitch of the measurement in degrees all with one shot! UltraLyte 200 LR product spec sheet
All these models offer fully programmable menu options, built right into the laser, such as:
Changing the "Power-Off" timing
Toggling between "Continuous" and "Single Shot" modes
Adjusting the "Short Gate" and "Long Gate" for measuring speeds within a predetermined range
UltraLyte LR B (speed enforcement only model)
This is the workhouse of Laser Technology's Speed Laser Units. The UltraLyte LR B offers the same durability and reliability as the other models, but it has more streamlined and simplified menus. The model is ideal for law enforcement agencies that want a straight forward solution to enforcing speeds with same the unique qualities found in all the UltraLyte lasers. The LR B features a one-button weather filter that makes it quick and easy to target vehicle speeds through moderate rain or snow. The UltraLyte LR B offers the same durability and reliability as the other models, but it has more streamlined and simplified menus. The UltraLyte LR B can also integrate with SpeedStat software to collect and record speed statistics for spot surveys. The LRB is waterproof, all aluminum (no plastic), the simplest to use, while at the same time being the most affordable of all of the UltraLyte Lasers. Ideal for motorcycles. UltraLyte LRB Product Spec Sheet
Impulse Series (Distance Only Model)
The Impulse offers a Crash / Crime Scene Investigator a simple tool that measures slope, horizontal, vertical, and grade or pitch in degrees. The perfect Laser for creating 3 Dimensional drawings. Impulse Series product spec sheet
Distance Between Cars Upgrade (DBC)- The NEW ‘Tailgating Eliminator Technology!
Now you can purchase (after an approved training course), an upgrade to the existing LR100 laser (or purchase a new laser with the DBC chip installed) that will tell you the time, speed and distance that one vehicle is following another.
This will help you as an agency focus on the significant traffic safety issue of following-too-closely.
Time is of the essence when investigating a fatal crash scene. Investigators have to consider the costs and safety factors when shutting down a major highway. There is always pressure to collect all the relevant evidence, in a timely manner, and still maintain an acceptable degree of accuracy.
Saving time without compromising mapping detail is what QuickMap 3D (QM3D) is all about. QM3D is a paperless solution that combines reflectorless laser technology, electronic data collection and flexible mapping methods. This makes QM3D the fastest, safest, most convenient system ever produced for the accident investigator.
How QuickMap 3D Measures Up:
Adapt to any scene, regardless of size or terrain. Choose any 1 of 3 mapping techniques and always be safe and efficient.
Easily transfer all your field data points and notations directly into a CAD program and save hours of time, avoiding having to redraw the entire scene.
Quickly learn how to map with minimal training, using QM3D’s easy to use software, helpful reminder messages and simplified menu options.
Do you ever take measurements at a crime scene or crash scene? Now, with the Pocket Zone software, you can do it faster, easier and more accurately - right from your pocket PC! The Pocket Zone is software that integrates with your total station or laser device, but it does not stop there. You actually see the drawing as it is being created, so you leave the scene confident that all the details have been accurately measured and recorded. PocketZone works on any windows mobile handheld device such as TDS Recon, Symbol or IPAQ.
Laser Technology offers 2 distinct mapping solutions based on your budget & manpower resources; a ‘One Man’ Mini Total Station as well as a ‘Two Person’ Complete Total Station.
A complete Mapping System is comprised of 4 parts:
*The Laser ( LR200 / Impulse Series )- It measures all of the distances and automatically downloads them into your data collector.
*Handheld Data Collector - (TDS Recon)This is your electronic clipboard, storing all of your measurements and notes at the scene. When you are finished at the scene, it will download all of the data you collected onto your computer for drawing.
*Mapping System - (view sample)This is the approach an Officer will take in collecting the evidence at the scene.
*CAD Drawing Program (view brochure)- Once you have downloaded your scene to a computer, the CAD Program is what draws the actual diagram (2D or 3D ) or simulation of the event.
Note regarding CAD Programs: Laser Technology’s Mapping systems will work with CAD programs as long as they accept a .dxf format drawing file, which is standard. The LTI system is capable of providing the information necessary to also create 3-D Diagramming and Simulations. Listed below are two of the most common programs available to Law Enforcement: CADZONE – built with law enforcement in mind. It is simple to use, with plenty of available training and customer support. Visual Statement – www.visualstatment.com – an excellent provider of a low cost and simple to use simulation CAD program.
Samples of "Mini" versus "Total" Station
Mini Station
This system simply consists of the UltraLyte 200LR or Impulse Laser, Monopod, and Data Collector, with the capability of fitting all of it into a saddlebag of a police motorcycle. The Mini -Total Station takes only officer to measure a scene by the Officer shooting two reference points for every point placed on the map.
A Total Station is typically a two-person operation that allows you to plot points with one Laser Shot. The LTI Laser works in conjunction with an Angle Encoder which provides the bearing of the object from a fixed reference point, while the laser provides the distance. The Total station is considered to be the fastest and most accurate form of diagramming crime/crash scenes, while allowing for 3-D diagramming.
